Isaia started his prep career at Iolani High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he played on both the offensive and defensive lines.  He now preps at perennial powerhouse Bishop Gorman High School (Las Vegas, Nevada), who in 2016 extended their win streak to 54 games and won their eighth straight state title.  They also finished the season as the No. 1 ranked team in the country for the third straight season. Following the 2016 season Isaia was named to the 2016 All-USA Nevada first team, and was invited to play in the 2018 Polynesian All-American Bowl. He also plays basketball and volleyball, where he made and played with the US Junior National team in 2014.

Isaia is rated 3-stars by Rivals and Scout, and is not yet rated by Scout or ESPN. He is a 3-star composite on 247 Sports with a score of 0.8222 and is ranked No. 36 nationally for all guards. I caught up with Jacob to ask him a little about his recruitment and about life.

D1: What are the things you are looking for in a potential school?
Jacob: I’m looking to get a good education, and I’m also looking for a good fit with my coaches and teammates. It’s important to me that there’s a family atmosphere on the team.

D1: Which schools are currently showing you the most love in the recruiting process?
Jacob: I currently have offers from BYU, Michigan State, and Nevada, and I’m hearing from a number of schools, mostly from the Big 10 and PAC 12.

D1:  What are some of your favorite things?
Jacob: The Godfather Trilogy, Game of Thrones, Kendrick Lamar, Cap’n Crunch, and Korean BBQ

D1: What is your greatest accomplishment in sports?
Jacob: My greatest accomplishment in sports so far has been to be a starter on my national championship high school football team.  It was a fun and grueling season, but it was worth all of the hard work!

D1: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Jacob: My parents always tell me to be kind to everyone and to treat others with respect.

D1: Who is a current player (collegiate or pro) that you seek to emulate on the field?
Jacob: My friend, Michael Eletise.  He’s an offensive lineman at the University of Arizona, and we used to train together in Hawaii.  He’s strong and has great technique.

D1: What are your personal goals for this upcoming season (2017)?
Jacob: We want to keep the streak alive and win another national championship this year.  Personally I want to work hard to be a leader on my team.  I want to get bigger and stronger and become the best player I can be.

D1: Anything else you’d like fans and coaches to know about you?
Jacob: I am a versatile athlete who can contribute wherever I’m needed on the team.  I’m a hard worker, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue playing at the next level.
